netXtra enhance the user experience on STAP and LEAP websites
Further to the recent launch of the STAP (Suffolk Training Advice Point) and LEAP (Learning and Enterprise Access Point) websites, netXtra has further enhanced the visitor and user experience by adding new interactive functionality to both sites. This ultimately enables Suffolk TAP, a Suffolk Chamber of Commerce initiative, to expand their service by providing detailed course information and up-to-date news of events and activities in LEAP centres throughout the region.
LEAP Centres and Points offer people in Suffolk access to learning and training, high quality information and advice to anyone looking for educational opportunities. With these latest enhancements, the improved websites now offer an expanded range of training information.
Previously, the Suffolk TAP website displayed mainly vocational and academic learning information, and did not attempt to achieve comprehensive coverage of informal adult learning. There has traditionally been a difficulty in providing detailed course information due to the comprehensive range and variety of this type of learning and the lack of detailed information relating to courses. As a result, Suffolk TAP has worked continuously with netXtra to gather information on informal learning and making it readily available on both the Suffolk TAP and LEAP websites.
Data has been organised to enable searches on both websites by either geographical location or by category. netXtra have also enhanced the search facility to incorporate a new map feature. Search results are highlighted on a map with further detail listed, in text, in order of priority geographically. The map also assists funding bodies and providers in identifying gaps in provision. Furthermore, Suffolk TAP’s website administrators can also create links to training providers’ own sites or add address and contact details on the STAP and LEAP sites for those smaller providers without a web presence.
Dee Crowe, Manager at Suffolk TAP, said “The modular architecture of the netXtra Content Management System (CMS) has made the latest enhancements to our website so easy and convenient. Functionality, such as the new map features, combined with continued collection of data, will enable the general public to easily identify and access learning in their locality."
